Your Skin’s Summer Recovery Plan

We’re gathering school supplies, making Labor Day plans, and tucking those swimsuits and beach bags back into the closet. While the summer heat might linger for months, the season is officially drawing to a close. Hopefully you crammed in as many beach trips, backyard barbeques and pool days as you could! But as wonderful as it feels to bask in that fresh air and sunlight, it can take a toll on your skin. Luckily, at Coastal Dermatology, we have a variety of products and treatments to aid your skin’s summer recovery.

We now carry an innovative line of antiaging skincare called DefenAge. DefenAge uses recent scientific discoveries about skin’s regeneration process to visibly correct up to 16 signs of aging, many of which are exacerbated by exposure to the sun’s rays.

The product line includes a serum, a cream and a mask. Used together, they’ll give you noticeably softer, firmer and brighter skin in as few as six weeks. The products also smooth wrinkles and minimize pores.

Even better, you can use our promo code, DD5CDSC, to get 25% off DefenAge products!

Obagi Vitamin C serum

You’ve probably heard doctors tell you to incorporate more Vitamin C into your diet, but how about working it into your skincare routine, too? When applied topically, Vitamin C brightens, calms and moisturizes your skin, as well as reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Here at Coastal Dermatology, we carry Vitamin C products from Obagi Skincare, whose products are proven to absorb and penetrate the skin more effectively than competitors. We have the Professional-C Serum in 20% and 15%. Just stop by our office or contact us if you have any questions about which products are right for you!

We recommend trying our skin rejuvenating products first, and then, in a month or so, scheduling a laser treatment or peel. Lasers work best once you lose some of that summer tan, and most of our peels require avoiding sun exposure immediately after treatment, so both these services are perfect for early fall.

Laser treatments can address many signs of sun damage, such as spots, uneven pigmentation, mottled discoloration or fine lines. Coastal Dermatology has state-of-the-art lasers that safely and precisely target and treat the affected skin.

Our Candela V-Beam, GentleLASE and GentleMAX lasers all use pulses of heat to gently treat your skin. The lasers first emit a cooling spray to protect your skin followed by a pulse of light. Contact us to learn more about our laser treatments and make your appointment.

Peels are another way to rejuvenate your skin and minimize signs of sun damage like fine lines around the eyes or mouth, age spots, and uneven texture. To improve the appearance of your skin, a chemical solution is applied, which causes the skin to exfoliate and eventually peel. The new skin that replaces it will be smoother and more even. Peels can be used to treat skin on your face, neck or hands.

We offer three types of chemical peels: light, medium and deep. The strength of the peel is based on the concentration of the chemical solution, with stronger solutions penetrating deeper into your skin.

The strength of peel you choose depends on your skin type and the conditions being treated, so contact us or stop by our office to figure out which one is right for you.
