VI-Peel

VI-Peel Treatment

As we age, our skin starts to lose its firmness and smoothness. Chemical peels like the VI Peel are simple, quick treatments that can effectively restore much of our youthful glow.

What is the VI Peel?

The VI Peel is a medical-grade chemical peel that uses a formula of Trichloroacetic Acid, Tretinoic Acid, Salicylic Acid, Phenol, Vitamin C, and other minerals to treat a variety of skin issues on your face, neck, chest, arms, back, and legs. The VI Peel is most commonly used to treat acne, acne scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, age and sun spots, hyperpigmentation, melasma, rosacea, enlarged pores, oil balancing, and overall skin health. It is powerful, but gentle and safe, and is effective on all skin types.

What Can I Expect During an Appointment?

Your procedure will take place in our office and should last between 20 to 45 minutes. Before the treatment, your face will be wiped with a cleanser and acetone, which removes oils, dirt and bacteria and allows the chemical to more deeply penetrate your skin. The peel formula will then be applied to your skin in two phases: the first layer will treat your top layer of skin cells and the second layer will penetrate deeper into the dermis, treating the toxins and dead skin cells further. Once the solution dries, you are free to resume daily activities, but you must wait about five hours before washing it off.

Are There Any Side Effects?

The VI Peel is gentle and relatively pain free. Some patients with sensitive skin report mild burning or tingling, but a cooling device may be used to minimize that discomfort. Two or three days after treatment, patients will start peeling, and it is normal to notice skin discoloration during this time. The peeling will reveal a layer of skin underneath that is smoother, firmer, clearer, and more youthful.

What are the Long-Term Results?

After you stop peeling, your skin will have an extra glow, but you’ll experience even more noticeable results 4 to 6 weeks after treatment, as the peel continues to promote cellular turnover. You’ll see many antiaging effects, like a more even skin tone, a smoother skin texture and fewer fine lines and wrinkles. One treatment is adequate to produce these changes, although for more dramatic results we recommend biannual maintenance treatments.

Is a VI Peel Right for Me?

The VI Peel can treat a variety of skin types, but the ideal candidates have fair to medium skin color with conditions such as mild skin damage, acne or acne scarring, and noticeable aging.  If you’re curious about what results you could see, we suggest starting with a free consultation.
