Radiesse

Radiesse Treatment

Popular because of its long-lasting results, Radiesse is a non-toxic, nonallergenic cosmetic procedure that reduces the appearance of facial wrinkles and lines around the mouth, as well as certain types of facial scars. Here’s what you need to know about this procedure and if its right for you.

What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is an injectable filler that fills out deep-set wrinkles in skin that has lost significant volume due to aging. It’s made of synthetic calcium hydroxlapatite, which is similar to calcium found in teeth and bones. It’s also used more as a facial volumizer than a wrinkle-filler, such as Juvederm.

What Can I Expect During an Appointment?

During treatment, a local or topical anesthetic is applied to eliminate any discomfort. Radiesse is then injected under the skin via a small needle. The filler immediately works to add volume under the skin and over time, continues to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. The surgery lasts between 15 and 40 minutes, and results are instant.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Like other injectable fillers, patients may experience temporary redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising around the treated area. In rare cases, patients may see small bumps appear under the skin, but they generally disappear, along with other side effects, after a few days. Radiesse patients can return home right after the procedure and resume normal daily activities, but should be advised to stay out of the sun for 24-36 hours immediately following treatment.

What are the Long-Term Results?

What makes Radiesse a popular choice among patients is that its results can last as long as two years, making it the longest-lasting injectable filler on the market. Follow-up appointments are made every 1 to 1.5 years, depending on individual results.
